My Art Quilt Challenge picture arrived in the post today. After days of anticipation and imagining using all of my colourful beads.....................ummmm...........not quite what I was imagining. This will certainly be a challenge as I am determined to use beads. Posted by Picasa

I can see you easily using beads....firstly stop seeing the objects...look at the layers...then the values of the picture....your beautiful beading will start to appear right at home (remember you could use your techniques with 'different' beads eg have you thought of making your own out of clay, multi-coloured even!)
Of the pics so far they are way different than any I've 'altered' for an Art Quilt.
Actually how about your picture 'shrinking' and placed somewhere on a background of your choosing?? Just my thoughts! I hope I get plenty from everyone when mine arrives!

This was another of my favourite pics, I suppose they all where in a way. I can see the leaves on this pic beaded and in 3D. Pinup has some great ideas and I think by breaking it into layers and elements you will see potential for a great artistic work

Thanks for your encouragement, girls. Pinup ~ I don't actually know what that means -'stop seeing the objects..look at the layers...then the values of the picture' - I have no knowledge of art I am just a simple (in more ways than one!!!) beader.

I tried to explain some of the terms I used on the forum....didn't intend to be confusing it's just the language that artists tend to use to confuse the rest of us...some of it has rubbed off on me.
I think you will have great fun with your art quilt....having a great supply of beads will be so helpful and just stick to your guns of wanting to use your beads.... no matter what the colours! Though I will work differently, one of the first things I do is get out my stuff and see what I want to use and how I will use it. In fact I often put away the actual picture and let the stuff (in your case, beads)dictate what I then use. Then of course I can usually convince myself I don't have the 'right' thing so I go buy more stuff!
